Sebastjan Radišek

Dr. Sebastjan Radišek works as plant pathologist in Plant Protection Diagnostics Laboratory at Slovenian Institute of Hop Research and Brewing (IHPS). He holds a B.Sc. in Agronomy and M.Sc and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, all obtained at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. His main research interests are epidemiology, plant-pathogen interactions and integrated disease management strategies. Most of his research focuses to diseases of hop, vegetables and fruit trees, with emphasis on Verticillium and Fusarium wilts. He has been studied genetic variability and pathogenicity of V. nonalfalfae and V. dahliae, and the management methods to control soil borne pathogens. He has been responsible for disease resistance testing in the Slovene hop breeding program, hop downy mildew forecasting service and fungicide efficacy testing against hop diseases. His second major research area covers viruses and viroids on hops, in which he focuses on the epidemiology of hop latent viroid (HLVd) and a recently discovered new hop pathogen citrus bark cracking viroid (CBCVd). He is a member of European Mycological Network (EMN) and several international plant protection associations.
